About
Welcome to Prosford Studio!
Kia ora! I'm Katherine, a primary-trained teacher and the founder of Prosford Studio. I'm excited to welcome you to this space dedicated to nurturing students through tutoring and the performing arts.
Teaching Experience
Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students at primary, intermediate and secondary schools. I've taught both here in Auckland and in London in a variety of roles from classroom teacher to PE teacher to Literacy Support through full-time, fixed term and relieving work.
I’ve always loved running after-school clubs, preparing for performance days, and bringing school productions to life, so opening Prosford Studio has felt like a natural next step. I've loved every minute of running the studio so far—what an awesome first year it's been! I'm looking forward to continuing to grow in 2026. Alongside running the studio, I am teaching at schools 4 days a week, ensuring I stay connected to the latest teaching practices and bring a broad range of experience to my studio work.
Beyond the classroom
Outside of classroom teaching, I've been fortunate to do some travel over the past few years, mostly around Europe and the UK. I recently performed in the ensemble of The Addams Family (October 2024) and The Wizard of Oz (December 2024) with City Academy in London.
Now that I've returned to Auckland, I'm excited to head out on some more cycling and camping adventures! I enjoy blog writing and run my own teaching resources website, attheminute teaching, which my partner and I created by bringing together our skill sets in teaching and tech, respectively.
Why Prosford Studio?
Opening my own studio has been a dream of mine for a long time so I'm thrilled to have made it a reality. Now that I'm one year in, I can truly say that teaching remains my passion - there aren't too many things more rewarding than seeing someone grow and lighting that little fire inside that leaves them feeling inspired and proud.
My Approach
I believe in a balanced approach to teaching that combines high expectations with patience, understanding, and, of course, a generous sprinkle of FUN! I want my students to leave each lesson excited, motivated, and confident in their ability to tackle new tasks. By building foundational skills, resilience, and a love of learning, I aim to equip students with the tools they need to succeed as they come across challenges - both in school and beyond.
